Reed Montgomery

Reed Montgomery grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. Surrounded by a state loaded with lakes and rivers and a family full of fishing enthusiasts, fishing was in Reed's blood from day one. Reed started fishing from the day he was able to get to the lake on his own. He grew up fishing The Warrior River near his home in Birmingham and learned the aspects of bass fishing at a very early age.

Reed owns Reed's Guide Service and has guided clients all over the state for all species of bass and stripers for over 30 years. He knows all of Alabama's 92 lakes and rivers very well and has many repeat clients.

Reed has been a Bass tournament angler for over 20 years with many wins and big bass honors statewide. Locally he has won annual events featuring over 200 boats, bass tournaments such as the Shriners Tournament, March Of Dimes and Marks Outdoors Sports.

Reed was Alabama's Bassbum Solo Trail (see www.bassbum.homestead.com for results), Angler Of The Year in 1998 and again Angler Of The Year for 2000. Reed placed First in the BASSBUM 2-Day Championship on Logan Martin Lake October 21-22 in this very popular Alabama (www.bassbum.homestead.com) Solo Trail for the year 2000. He is known for his expertise on topwater fishing and has many victories using this method.

Reed is a Bassmasters Touring Professional. He is fishing The Bassmasters Eastern Invitational Trail for 2000-2001. Reed is also fishing the Operation Bass Walmart Bass Fishing League (previously Redman) ProAm tournaments for the 2001 season.

Reed has also been an outdoor writer for many years. He was previously the Field Editor for 6 years for B'ham-based BASSINFO Magazine before it ceased publication in 1997. He has written for major publications throughout the south and now has fishing tips, reports and fishing related articles posted at many Internet sites.

Reed is the Owner, Host and Producer of "Fishing Alabama" Radio Talk Show. It is on radio station WJOX 690 AM in Birmingham, Alabama each week on Saturday mornings from 6-7 a.m. This one-of-a-kind radio show debuted in February, 1999 and is now heard throughout Alabama on 8 radio stations with a rating of over one million listeners per week.
